Coatlen are somewhat of an enigma in terms of their sudden appearance in Xonthian Lore. The half-snake half-human hybrids claim to be older than the Elder Races. Although there is no documented or historical facts to back this up. They are secretive creatures, found primarily in warm humid climates. They do hunt humans, and smaller game outside of Serpent Pass, however during the age of Re-Discovery, a deal was struck with them. Humans who settled in Lucci, provided the Coatlen of Serpent Pass a steady supply of cows and other livestock, in exchange for the ability to mine the Serpent Spine Mountains.
Though they can look like any snake seen crawling through the grass, their human-like torso is mostly human, with arms and a neck that blends into a snake’s head. They have their own hissing language but can speak other tounges.
