Wiki Category: Species

Xonthian is a diverse and fantastical world inhabited by a variety of unique and fascinating species. Among them are humans, elves, dwarves, Atticattin, and other distinctive races that contribute to the rich tapestry of this fictional realm.

As one of the most widespread and adaptable species in Xonthian, humans are known for their versatility and resourcefulness. They thrive in various environments and are often found in different roles, from skilled warriors to talented artisans and scholars. Humans form the backbone of many societies and play a crucial role in the politics and culture of Xonthian.

Elves are an elegant and long-lived race, known for their connection to nature and proficiency in magic. They possess pointed ears, graceful features, and a deep affinity for forests. Elves often excel in archery and possess a keen sense of aesthetics, contributing to their reputation as skilled artists and craftsmen. Their societies are often closely tied to the natural world, and they have a unique perspective on time and history.

Dwarves are stout and hardy beings with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and mining. Known for their impressive beards and robust physique, dwarves excel in metallurgy and stonecraft. They often inhabit underground realms, where they build magnificent cities and forge powerful weapons and artifacts. Dwarves are also known for their strong sense of honor and loyalty.

The Atticattin are a mysterious and enigmatic race with feline characteristics. Possessing cat-like eyes, sharp claws, and agility, they are adept hunters and stealthy warriors. The Atticattin often live in close-knit communities, valuing independence and personal freedom. Their unique blend of feline traits and humanoid features makes them intriguing and distinct within the Xonthian world.

Xonthian is home to numerous other fantastical races, each with its own characteristics and lore.

Rhok Dwarves

Nestled beneath the imposing Shadow Mountain, the resilient Rhok Dwarves thrive in their stout, thick-skinned community. Adorned with thick beards, bulbous noses, and narrow, glassy eyes, these dwarves boast a spectrum of hair colors, with the rarest being a fiery red. The elders of their kind, particularly, prize the length of their beards. It’s worth noting that unlike their male counterparts, female dwarves of Rhok do not grow beards.

These formidable dwarves have taken on the role of guardians for the Dragon’s Summit, offering praise to the god of Rhok, from whom they derive their classification. Their toughness matches the very stone they expertly chisel through to create an ever-expanding labyrinth of tunnels, homes, and meeting spaces. Delving into the lower reaches of their earthen abode reveals a treasure trove of rare metals, where forges and mage studies work tirelessly to transform them into some of the most advanced magical weaponry in all of Xonthian.

Despite their mastery, only a select few of these magical artifacts ever see the light of day. Many undergo a process of reduction, reforging, and reenchantment. Those with exceptionally rare properties find a secure home in the Dragon’s Summit, guarded zealously by the dragons themselves.

The Mages of Rhok place high value on steadfast magics and enchantments, particularly those geared towards protection. In some remarkable instances, Rhok Mages have bestowed weapons with magical properties capable of cleaving through stone, while simultaneously enchanting armor to possess impenetrable defenses.

Coatlen

Coatlen are somewhat of an enigma in terms of their sudden appearance in Xonthian Lore. The half-snake half-human hybrids claim to be older than the Elder Races. Although there is no documented or historical facts to back this up. They are secretive creatures, found primarily in warm humid climates. They do hunt humans, and smaller game outside of Serpent Pass, however during the age of Re-Discovery, a deal was struck with them. Humans who settled in Lucci, provided the Coatlen of Serpent Pass a steady supply of cows and other livestock, in exchange for the ability to mine the Serpent Spine Mountains.

Though they can look like any snake seen crawling through the grass, their human-like torso is mostly human, with arms and a neck that blends into a snake’s head. They have their own hissing language but can speak other tounges.

Forest Atticatten

Although regarded as Forest Atticatten, they are the primary source of Atticatten in the Xonthian. They are found living among the trees on the southeast peninsula of Xectutran. They are agile beings with sharp almond-shaped eyes, cat ears that adorn their heads, and a tail. Their skin is normal, like most other creatures, and can range in various shades, much like their smaller feline counterparts. They hunt during the day and hunt almost anything that lives in the forest. The only natural predators are dire wolves and werewolves that live scattered among the forests to the north.

Atticatten

Its said that a Greater Being had come across a severed tail, that once had adorned a brother or sister. Curiosity peaked in his heart. He picked it up and carried it with him. One evening while the rouge Greater Being was hunting, a large wolf attacked him. Managing to slay the creature after it wounded him, the Greater Being laid down to rest. The next morning when the sun poured in through the trees canopy above, the Greater Being awoke to a gentle caress on his cheek. Startled, he bolted upright holding his make-shift spear in front of him. Fear quickly gave way to shock as the tail he had tucked into his belt now had a body attached to it. The creature before him was a beautiful, cat-like woman. Her long, slender arms and body were smooth and pleasant to look upon. Her wide almond-shaped eyes had slits like a domesticated cat. Long brown hair flowed down her back in waves. Naked and shivering, the Greater Being stood and removed his tattered cloak and wrapped it around the slender woman. Curious, the Greater Being spent the rest of the day finding more tails. The new creature followed him tirelessly. Several nights later, after finding a small pile of tails, the Greater Being introduced himself to the woman. His name was Attin Yente. He named the slender woman Phoenix Attincatten, meaning the birth of cat people. During that night, Attin Yente pricked his finger on the spearhead and dripped blood onto each of the tails he had spread around the campfire. With great vigilance, he spent the night watching and waiting for the tails to spring to life. Wearily, he slipped off into a slumber early the next morning. Later the next night, Phoenix woke him gently and pointed to the tails. Each one had grown into a man or woman. Happily, he rose and danced merrily with Phoenix. He had created what is now known as the Atticatten race, or the Elder race.
